Production Process

Wire Drawing and Welding Wire Production Process

The production of CO2 welding wire begins with the cold drawing of steel wire rod; a process in which the diameter of the initial wire is reduced over several stages until it reaches the final diameter (0.8 to 1.6 mm). Precise control of force, temperature and drawing speed at each stage determines diameter uniformity, tensile strength and surface quality of the wire.

Next, the wire is copper coated to improve the electrical conductivity of the welding current and to protect the wire against rust during storage and transport. Every stage of this process is quality-controlled in accordance with the SG2 standard.
